Dioxin Analysis in Food

Technically speaking, dioxin is a group of compounds that are linked by two oxygen bridges and contain two chlorinated benzene rings. Dioxins do not occur naturally and are not man-made. They are formed by the combustion of organic materials at a temperature of 200 to 1000 degrees when there is chlorine in the environment.

The sources of occurrence of dioxins are generally:

• Waste incineration plants
• Medical and household waste
• Thermal power plants
• Petrochemical industry
• Recycling metal industry
• Cement factories
• Paper production facilities
• Natural resources such as mines, volcanoes and forest fires
• Burning of animal carcasses (the body of butchery animals obtained after slaughtering, skinning and evacuating their internal organs)

Dioxins are known as chlorinated organic impurities. They are mostly released by the combustion of industrial wastes. Dioxins are considered among the important carcinogenic substances that threaten human and living health. These toxic substances pose a serious danger by contaminating the soil, feed and food. Therefore, they need to be analyzed quickly and effectively.

"Dioxin Analysis" is carried out in our laboratories in accordance with the legal regulations and standards related to TÜRKAK accreditation.
